Measurable Goals for Affordable Housing

 

Year 1:

• An additional eight to ten community leaders will be trained to provide broad-based advocacy for affordable homeownership efforts. 
   
• Success in one city will result in another two local municipalities expressing interest in learning more about best practices for community engagement around this issue and the tools to promote affordable housing development.

 

Year 2:

• The County Municipal Development staff will adopt changes to zoning rules and provide incentives that allow overlay districts to promote ease and lower costs for sustainable affordable housing developments. 
   
• Municipalities exploring affordable housing will implement at least one ordinance or rule change.

 

Year 3:

• At least one development will be under way that will serve as an example for other local municipalities. 
   
• Another two to three ordinance or rule changes will occur in DuPage to promote affordable housing.
