Early Childhood Care and Education Measurable Goals

Measurable Goals for improving the quality of child care and school readiness:

Year 1:

  • Identify eligible providers and complete Creative Curriculum mentoring (part of Phase II grant). Of the four centers that receive Creative Curriculum mentoring this year, all four will become established on the QRS or, if already established, will move up one star on the QRS.

  • A new strategy will be developed by the advisory committee and implemented to coordinate the necessary in-depth, one-on-one support for grantwriting.

  • The advisory committee will conduct a needs assessment to determine activities and support needed to move providers up the QRS scale.

  • The Foundation will continue to convene key individuals around the progress and development of Educare West DuPage.

Year 2:

  • In 2008, two providers applied for Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) grants; in 2009, we want another four providers to be eligible with all quality components necessary to successfully pursue ISBE if so desired.

  • Support implementation of Creative Curriculum for another four providers; move those four providers along the QRS.

  • Develop a Menu of Tools to address the needs identified to achieve movement up the QRS (perhaps in concert w/ Action Hub).

  • The Foundation will continue to convene key individuals around the progress and development of Educare West DuPage.

  • Work with the Action Hub to secure higher income levels for Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP).

  • Work with the Action Hub to develop a plan to reach out to the business community for investment in early childhood care and education.

Year 3:

  • Use needs assessment to set realistic goals for the number of providers that can achieve QRS movement.

  • Identify potential business partners and secure at least one business sponsorship for a child care center.

  • Continue to assess quality and capacity building for non-childcare birth-to-five providers.
